About Grosvenor
Grosvenor is one of the most recognisable brands in the gaming industry. It has 55 casinos across the UK and the vast majority of their ‘G’ casinos are open 24 hours. Not only can visitors enjoy poker and table games, but can avail of their slots, bars, live sports, restaurants and much more.
Grosvenor Casino Live Poker
The Grosvenor United Kingdom Poker Tour, which is more commonly known as the GUKPT, is one of the longest-running tours in the UK. Starting in 2007, and now in its 8th season, the 11 events scheduled for the 2014 tour have buy-ins range from £500-£1,000 and have a combined guarantee of £1.9m. The very affordable £120 buy-in for their Goliath game boasts an additional £250,000 pot, bringing their total guaranteed to well over £2m. Grosvenor expects to surpass the £2.5m in total prize money awarded during last year’s tour.
Grosvenor Casinos is also available for download on Apple, Android and Blackberry devices, so if you can’t get to their bricks and mortar establishments you can play their games while sat at home or on the move.
The Grosvenor Poker Interface
The Grosvenor Poker skin is almost identical to the Genting Poker skin. The main lobby is sleek in appearance and has a number of tabs down the left-hand side to make it easier to locate your game of choice.
If you’re stuck for a casino game they can all be easily found on the top of the lobby. The only difference between the Genting Skin and the Grosvenor Skin is that Grosvenor uses a green table with their trademark ‘G’ logo, so at least it stands out on that front.
A Solid Signup Bonus Offer
Grosvenor Poker offers you a 200% bonus on your first deposit up to a maximum of £1,200. It also throws in a £5.50 token to play in one of the GUKPT satellites. In order to claim your bonus, you’ll need to earn Knockout (K.O.) points. For every 365 K.O. points you earn, £5 of your bonus will be released into your account. In order to earn 15 K.O points, you’ll need to generate $1 in rake or tournament fees.
For example, if you deposit £200 then you’ll receive a bonus of £400, which will be released in £5 increments every time you earn 365 K.O. points. To earn 365 points, you’ll need to play $243 worth of tournaments in order to generate the $24.30 fee required to release £5. So play 5 x $50 games and you’ll get £5 bonus from the $25 (£15.2) rake you paid which is effectively 33% rakeback
In order to release the full £1,200 bonus, you’d need to play around £19,000 worth of games and generate £1,900 worth of rake. You can track your bonus on the client and see how close you are to releasing your next £5.
When quizzed whether their £1,200 bonus is equivalent to €1,200, Grosvenor said that you are eligible for a first deposit of €1,500. This is generally unheard of with iPoker sites, as they usually don’t differentiate between currencies.
Exclusive Games
Grosvenor Poker has a plethora of satellites for all its live games. It offers smaller satellites into daily/weekly tournaments, many of which usually have decent overlays. The loyalty scheme offers a lot of daily freerolls based on your reward level and you can also buy in direct to their live games through the client.
Easy to Deposit and Withdraw
When making your initial deposit, the five options available are PayPal, Payment Card, Neteller, Moneybookers and Ukash. Withdrawal options are the same, with the addition of Cheque and the omission of Ukash.
I couldn’t find out the minimum deposit or withdrawal amounts on their site or the poker client, and the fact there is no instant chat on the client or website is a big negative. Based on my experience, playing at numerous other iPokerskins, it’s safe to assume the minimum is between £5 and £20.

Site Safety and Security
Grosvenor is one of the most recognisable names in gaming across the UK so you can be sure that your money is in safe hands.
It is licensed by the Alderney Gambling Control Commission, which is renowned worldwide as one of the biggest and most reputable commissions in gaming so there are not many safer places to keep your funds online.
Grosvenor staff feature strongly on AWorldofPoker.com forums and are always on hand to answer questions and queries and update you on events past, present and future.
Underwhelming Support Options
Grosvenor does not have a live chat facility on their poker client or on their poker website. They do however have phone and email support, but you really need to have people on hand for live chat for immediate response.
Any query seems likely to be answered quicker if you are a customer. When I emailed relating to a deposit query I got an email reply within a couple of hours, but when I couldn’t give them my account name or details I got an auto response saying it could be up to 96 hours.
If I was itching to deposit into a site, I would have gone elsewhere. However, this was over a holiday period so I may give them the benefit of doubt this time.
While email and phone support are both fine options, live chat is just a lot handier and, the fact that it is offered at the majority of other iPoker skins, means that Grosvenor loses a point here. There is no excuse for omitting a feature included by nearly every other poker site on the network.
Positives
A highly respected and trusted brand with casinos all across the UK
Good rewards scheme for their bigger rankers
A lot of satellites into GUKPT events, many of which have overlays
Negatives
Not great rewards for smaller stakes and casual players.
A lot of contradicting information on their site relating to the loyalty scheme
No Live Chat support
Verdict
If you enjoy playing live poker, or you play online enough to accumulate points frequently, then Grosvenor Poker should be a stop on your bonus whoring tour. They offer plenty of opportunities to qualify and buy into live games at discounted prices, with the option of Sponsorship if you’re not quite flush enough to go it alone.
The poker client itself is quite lazy and with no real identity. The lack of a live chat feature on the poker client is, in my opinion, a massive negative, as you could be waiting a while for an email reply.
Overall, Grosvenor is undoubtedly a safe place to keep your bankroll and play poker. They are one of the biggest casino operators in Europe and offer a solid signup bonus to all new players. If you need a new skin to whore a bonus on, you could do much worse than Grosvenor Poker.
